We are progressing well – Komphela

“We are progressing well with our process,” coach Steve Komphela says about the recent positive results, including Saturday’s 3-0 win over AmaZulu. “It’s important to get the three points with a good performance. I believe we are playing much better now.”

The Kaizer Chiefs coach and his troops headed north yesterday to face the unpredictable Polokwane City in an Absa Premiership fixture at New Peter Mokaba Stadium tonight (kick-off is at 19:30).

“We played on Saturday and the team basically only had Sunday to recuperate and refresh their bodies,” Komphela comments. “With back to back matches the margin of error increases. It’s about rest and pre-match.”

“We want to continue our winning ways. I thought that we needed to be a bit more clinical in front of goal in Durban, as we could have won with an avalanche of goals. Polokwane City are a good side and they have some brilliant individuals to watch.”

City’s Rodney Ramagalela in attack and Jabu Maluleke in midfield always pose a threat. “We have worked on a solid game plan,” reveals Komphela. “They are an enterprising team, but we will explore and exploit their weaknesses.

“I’m still looking for more from this team, as we have a capable side to win honours. We just have to keep working hard, consistently so.

“We will field a strong team to give us the wanted result. The game will most definitely be good for the eyes considering both teams like to play good, positive football.”

With both teams coming from good wins over the weekend, the New Peter Mokaba Stadium is set for an entertaining match.

“We are hungry,” concludes Komphela. “We want the win to keep up with the current log leaders.”

Chiefs and City will face each other at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday, 31 October (kick-off at 19:30).

Mamelodi Sundowns’ Sibusiso Vilakazi says that is has been a while since the Brazilians tasted glory but they will try their best to go all out and claim the Telkom Knockout Cup this season. This week, we hear from Supporters Club Committee Member Masilo Machaka on the TKO last 16 results, as well as the upcoming quarter-final round. On the Telkom Knockout Last 16 results Firstly, I’ll start off with the encounter between Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu. I think the Chiefs players played their hearts out, they showed character on the day and there was unity amongst them. They played for the badge of Kaizer Chiefs and I commend them for that. What really caught me by surprise though was the game between Chippa United and Mamelodi Sundowns. Who would have thought that Sundowns would be knocked out of the tournament in the early stages?
