Bafana Bafana head coach, Stuart Baxter has stressed the importance of his side winning both their upcoming encounters against Senegal.
The South African national team will play back-to-back qualifying fixtures on November 10 and 14, where two out of two wins will book their spot in the 2018 FIFA World Cup set to take place in Russia next year.
Head Coach Baxter announced his official 25-man squad last week, where he made little changes to his setup used against Burkina Faso earlier in October. Siphiwe Tshabalala however, was the noticeable inclusion after the player made his return to the national team after almost four years.
Speaking to the South African Football Association’s website, the Englishman says that there is only one option at this point and it is to obtain maximum points in both 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounters.
“We have only one option – to win the remaining two games and book our ticket to Russia. Everyone, myself, the players, the Association, media and the public – is well aware that anything less than victory in both matches will be curtains for our World Cup aspirations. We did well against Burkina Faso, so we have to keep on believing that is it is very much possible to qualify. The good thing is that it is all in our hands,” he said.
