Ertugral Jetting Out For Work In Turkey

Former Orlando Pirates head coach, Mushin Ertugral will be jetting out to Turkey this week after he was hired to do television broadcast work.

The Turkish-born head coach is still a free agent since stepping down from the helm of Pirates last year, November, however, has been actively involved in FIFA’s technical committee, analysing football trends around the world, along with being hired by international broadcast stations to cover some of the big games abroad.

Ertugral confirmed to the Siya crew that he will be jetting out to Turkey this week for work, but will return to Mzansi in a few days.

“I am still (on) the technical committee of FIFA, I will be doing some work also, I have done that the beginning of the season, analysing teams in world football and what is happening at the moment, so we are doing that so there is always a booklet coming out to the federation. So, we, from the technical study group are always doing work with the trends of world football so the trends have changed a lot. I did a lot of pre-season training sessions and what is happening in world football,” the 58-year-old told Soccer Laduma.

“Channels always hire me for international football and obviously, there is one of the biggest derbies in the world, Fernebache against Galatasaray (this weekend.) I am doing the analysis and the co-commentary (for) that and they are flying me in for it so I will be there for a couple of days. But, I will be back in the country (South Africa) after 10 days,” he added.

As previously reported by the Siya crew, Ertugral’s name has been mentioned as one of the head coaches to take over at the helm at Kaizer Chiefs should the club look to part ways with Steve Komphela due to the team’s poor form.

Vilakazi: It’s Been A While Since Sundowns Tasted Glory

Mamelodi Sundowns’ Sibusiso Vilakazi says that is has been a while since the Brazilians tasted glory but they will try their best to go all out and claim the Telkom Knockout Cup this season. Sundowns will lock horns with Chippa United later this month, October, in the round of 16 of the Telkom Knockout competition, with Head Coach Pitso Mosimane’s side keen to retain the trophy which they last won in 2015. Speaking after the TKO draw took place, Vilakazi revealed that after Sundowns failed to progress further than the quarter-final stages of the MTN8 competition, the Telkom Knockout will be an opportunity for the Chloorkop-based club to dust themselves off.  “It’s been a while since we tasted glory, in the form of a trophy on the domestic league. We will try by all means to get this one for the team, for ourselves and for the supporters. But with that said, we aren’t looking forward too much. We will take it one game at a time. First, there is Chip...

We’re Going There For A Win

This week, we hear from Supporters Club Committee Member Masilo Machaka on the TKO last 16 results, as well as the upcoming quarter-final round.     On the Telkom Knockout Last 16 results    Firstly, I’ll start off with the encounter between Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu. I think the Chiefs players played their hearts out, they showed character on the day and there was unity amongst them. They played for the badge of Kaizer Chiefs and I commend them for that. What really caught me by surprise though was the game between Chippa United and Mamelodi Sundowns. Who would have thought that Sundowns would be knocked out of the tournament in the early stages? I don’t know how their supporters are feeling after the performances of their beloved team over the past few weeks and I’m sure they are asking themselves, ‘What’s next?’ They are out of the Telkom Knockout, but that’s football. Football is unpredictable – you win some and you lose some. Ha...
