Finalists! SuperSport Record Historic Victory In Tunisia


SuperSport United made history for their club on Sunday evening as they thumped Club Africain in their own backyard to reach their first ever CAF final.

Matsatsantsa went into the clash at a disadvantage having conceded an away goal in the 1-1 draw at home, with the away goal giving the Tunisians the upper hand for the second leg.

However, Bradley Grobler quickly nullified that as he headed home a bullet of a finish to make it 2-1 on aggregate, and when Jeremy Brockie made it 2-0 it looked as though SuperSport had done enough. Africain’s goal from the penalty spot was also made null and void shortly after it was scored, with Grobler bagging his brace.
 
Eric Tinkler – who has now reached his second CAF Confederation Cup final in three years, masterminded the Club Africain’s first loss in a CAF game at home since 2009, and will now be hoping to go one better than when he finished as a runner-up with Orlando Pirates in 2013.
 
SuperSport face TP Mazembe in the final next month, with the first leg being played in the Democratic Republic of Congo before the last game happens in Tshwane at the end of November.

City To Extend Ndou’s Stay?

Sources have alerted the Siya crew that despite earlier reports that Polokwane City intended to part ways with veteran striker Rendani Ndou, the Limpopo-based club may now look to retain the services of the 30-year-old forward.  Ndou has been with Rise and Shine for the past three years and reports surfaced that he could be making an exit when his contract comes to an end. However, Siya sources have revealed that City may look to keep the experienced striker at the club.    Earlier reports suggested that Ndou along with teammates Tshepo Tema and Randy Ngobe were left out in the cold by the club as they were no longer in the future plans of coach Bernard Molekwa. SuperSport Jet Out For Giant CAF Clash

SuperSport United fly out of South Africa this morning to embark on their CAF Confederation Cup semi-final clash against Club Africain in Tunisia. Matsatsantsa have lost only one away game in the CCC this season in their march into the final four – back against Al Ahly Shendi in March and know that they need at least a score draw to stand any chance of progressing into the final.   The club are already enjoying their best ever run in a CAF tournament, and Eric Tinkler’s side will be hoping to keep it going as they eye a spot in the last tie of the competition.   SuperSport – fresh off the back of their MTN8 victory, fly this morning but will stop in Dubai before completing their trip to Tunisia on Friday ahead of Sunday night’s encounter.  Tinkler’s team salvaged a 1-1 draw in the home leg against Africain, conceding what could prove to be a vital away goal from the penalty spot.
