Kaizer Chiefs defender, Lorenzo Gordinho, wants the club to end their trophy drought by going all the way in the Telkom Knockout this year.
Chiefs haven’t won a trophy since lifting the Absa Premiership title
back in 2014/15, and haven’t won the TKO since 2010, but their young
defender seems hopeful that it can change in 2017.
Gordinho, who will undergo a final scan on his broken ribs next
Wednesday, knows that it will be tough against an AmaZulu side that has
lost only two of their opening six games in the top flight since their
return.
Chiefs’ official website quoted the 23-year-old as saying, “There are
no weak sides… Having to face a highly competitive side like AmaZulu
will motivate us to get to the next round.
“We want to go all the way to the final. We can’t wait to get on the pitch and do the talking with our feet.”
Meanwhile, there was a familiar face at the draw for Gordinho, a face
that he could end up marking when the teams clash in the first round of
the TKO later this month.
He laughed, “Weirdly enough, Ovidy Karuru sat next to me at the draw. I am happy to see he’s doing well.”
Karuru has enjoyed a much better spell in Durban than he did in Soweto,
and should he feature against Polokwane City tomorrow night then he
will have played as many Absa Premiership games for Usuthu (5) as he did
during his two seasons at Naturena.
