Bafana Bafana international, Itumeleng Khune, has thanked the South African public for showing their love and support for the national team.
Bafana claimed a 3-1 win over Burkina Faso in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounter on Saturday, October 07 at the FNB Stadium.
Despite the Moses Mabhida stadium not packed to capacity on the day, Khune, who donned the captain’s armband for the encounter, has thanked the public for their support.
“I just want to thank the public, all South Africans for showing the love and support for the team. We know things haven’t been going according to plan and they’ve got every right to criticise us as players and for us, we needed to respond positively, getting positive results,” the 30-year-old said after the match on SAFA’s official website.
“It is always important that every game we play in the national colours, it is an important match for us and it is a must win. The coach had a plan and he presented it to us and we followed up the plan and we did well,” he added.
