Orlando Pirates received a major boost in their training with the return of their defender from a long injury layoff.
Pirates confirmed that Gladwin Shitolo has returned to full training. The defender, who can also play as a midfielder, has been missing from the team’s line-ups since August.
Having starred in Bucs’ defence during their opening two matches of the season against Chippa United and Baroka FC respectively, Shitolo's progress was halted at the Soweto giants due to injury.
The Buccaneers have confirmed the player’s return to their training, and have also given an update on Musa Nyatama, Happy Jele and Mthokozisi Dube.
“The technical team can breathe a sigh of relief following the news on midfielder Musa Nyatama’s injury in Orlando Pirates’ 1-all draw against Platinum Stars in the ABSA Premiership last week.
“There was (the) fear amongst the Bucs faithful when the 30-year old was stretchered off in the clash that he would be out for a lengthy period of time.
“His absence from the Soweto Derby three days later made for a grim prognosis, however, the Bucs medical team has revealed that the injury is not too serious.
“According to the medical report, Nyatama suffered a grade 1 strain to the quad. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation and should return to full fitness within the next 2-3 weeks.
“More good news to land on the technical team’s desk is the return of defender-come-midfielder Gladw
Milutin Sredojevic and his team will travel to KwaZulu-Natal for their Telkom Knockout Last 16 match against Golden Arrows on Saturday.
