Dolly On FIFA World Cup Qualification: We Should Just Focus on Ourselves

Bafana Bafana international, Keagan Dolly says that the South African national team should not pay too much attention on their group rivals’ performances, but rather focus on winning their two upcoming encounters.

Head Coach Stuart Baxter’s side will need to win both of their upcoming qualifying encounters against Senegal next month, November, in order to book their spot in the 2018 FIFA World Cup set to take place in Russia next year.

After their 3-1 win against Burkina Faso on the weekend, and Cape Verde dropping points against Senegal, Bafana are arguably favorites to top group D with 10 points, however, not unless the South African national team secure all six points in their upcoming fixtures.

Speaking after Bafana’s 3-1 win over Burkina Faso on the weekend, Dolly said “I think we should just focus on ourselves and not worry about what the other teams do and we should try and win each and every game we play from today and I think like I said, we shouldn’t look at what Senegal or Cape Verde is doing, we should just do what we can on the day and try to get the points.”

“We always knew that winning today would put us in a good position that we can fight and I think, looking at how tough this group is, you’re not sure if you’re going to win on the day, you can see that we had one point, we are four points and we are not that far off, so two next games we stand a big chance of qualifying,” the 24-year-old added.
