What a gentleman – Maponyane

We have asked five former Kaizer Chiefs players from five different decennia, starting with the foundation of the club on 7 January 1970 to now, to talk about their relationship with Chairman Kaizer Motaung for his 73rd birthday on Monday, 16 October 2017. Marks Maponyane (1980s) “What a gentleman,” Marks Maponyane says about Chairman Kaizer Motaung. “He’s also somebody who is prepared to listen and give honest advice when needed. Kaizer really loves his team and the beautiful game of soccer.” Motaung was nearing the end of his soccer career in the seventies, when Maponyane was still a teenager. “I would often go with a few friends to watch Kaizer Chiefs play,” the former striker remembers. “We would walk from Meadowlands to Orlando after having saved money during the week to be able to buy a ticket.” Maponyane played for the Glamour Boys from 1981 until 1991. “I was completely in awe when meeting Kaizer for the first time,” he admits. City To Extend Ndou’s Stay?

Sources have alerted the Siya crew that despite earlier reports that Polokwane City intended to part ways with veteran striker Rendani Ndou, the Limpopo-based club may now look to retain the services of the 30-year-old forward.  Ndou has been with Rise and Shine for the past three years and reports surfaced that he could be making an exit when his contract comes to an end. However, Siya sources have revealed that City may look to keep the experienced striker at the club.    Earlier reports suggested that Ndou along with teammates Tshepo Tema and Randy Ngobe were left out in the cold by the club as they were no longer in the future plans of coach Bernard Molekwa. However, sources close to the club indicated that Ndou is in line for a two-year extension that would see him remain at the club until 2020.      Ndou signed a three-year deal with Polokwane City back in 2014 after Black Leopards failed to gain promotion to the P...

SuperSport Jet Out For Giant CAF Clash

SuperSport United fly out of South Africa this morning to embark on their CAF Confederation Cup semi-final clash against Club Africain in Tunisia. Matsatsantsa have lost only one away game in the CCC this season in their march into the final four – back against Al Ahly Shendi in March and know that they need at least a score draw to stand any chance of progressing into the final.   The club are already enjoying their best ever run in a CAF tournament, and Eric Tinkler’s side will be hoping to keep it going as they eye a spot in the last tie of the competition.   SuperSport – fresh off the back of their MTN8 victory, fly this morning but will stop in Dubai before completing their trip to Tunisia on Friday ahead of Sunday night’s encounter.  Tinkler’s team salvaged a 1-1 draw in the home leg against Africain, conceding what could prove to be a vital away goal from the penalty spot. They have only failed to score in four of their 15 CAF ga...
